2. 2017-18 Season Schedule Negotiation
Bruce Clingan, Director/President

Update on Season Schedule and continued discussion on programming.

Springfield Offerings:

Same League Setup as last year

  • Fall - 9/6 through 10/11
  • Spring - 3/7 through 5/9

Learn to Curls - They are open to some weekday evenings, Saturday Afternoons, and Sunday Evenings before 7pm are possible.  Sounds like we should really decide and give an ask of what we would like to see.

Mini Leagues - They like the idea of 1 or 2 mini leagues to transition these new people into.  They would also like us to be a part of their Winter Sports Festival which would involve them donating some ice time to us to use during the event.

Bruce presented offerings.  Board approved confirmation of fall and spring league dates as listed above.  Bruce will continue negotiation for LTC and mini leagues as well as investigate winter sports festival.  Bruce will be considering the following options in his next discussions with the Chiller:

  • 4-5 LTC's on weekdays and weekends during first 2 weeks of March
  • 4 week mini league starting second week of march
  • 1-3 LTC's in first 2 weeks of April
  • 4 week mini league starting third week of march (end of first league)
  • LTC's will likely be 1.5 hours each.  On days where we hold 1 LTC we may purchase full 2 hours and offer first 30 minutes to instructors for free
  • Pricing for these will all be set at a later date.
  • Negotiate broomstacking to occur at chiller after each LTC.  Club would provide soft drinks as well as some light snacks.  Need to drive sign ups into mini leagues.

Considered also breaking Springfield league into 2 5 week leagues.  Need to determine logistics and whether this potentially hurts the bottom line.

Agreement across most of the board that an investment of money and time is needed during Olympic cycle.  We should be ready to spend money to secure time to meet demand.  There is a risk here if we don't meet our goal but that risk is worth it.  The current plan would open ~160-224 LTC slots in the March-April timeframe (in addition to the ~72 in December) as well as 64 instructional league spots.  This represents about a 28% conversion rate if filled completely.  The goal would be 24 spots of each LTC and 24 spots in each Instructional League with some people potentially doing multiple instructional leagues.

Bruce Clingan, Director/President

Update on Registration and Schedule

Volunteer Needs

Ice Making Discussion

Minutes

Bruce Updated on Superfriendly.  Registration will likely be around 52.  About 10-12 more spots available.  Less registration from dedicated clubs than expected.  Still working some leads.

Jonathan and Bruce will be making ice.  Flood is staffed on Friday night with Curl Troy volunteers.  Need 7-10 people to help setup and make ice in the morning starting at 7am.  Email will go out to members for volunteers.

Bruce expects to break even on event, which was the goal.
